BANG (Bridging Application and Network Gaps)

BANG addresses Information and Communication Technologies for development. We develop applications and networks for and with actual South African communities, e.g. Mankosi Community in the Eastern Cape for rural mesh networks, and the Deaf Community of Cape Town (DCCT) for Deaf telephony.

SASL (Integration of Signed and Verbal Communication: South African Sign Language Recognition and Animation)

The SASL projects draws on its members expertise in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Signal Processing, Image Processing, Encryption, Mobile Devices and Networking to develop the necessary tool sets to perform translation from South African Sign Language to Speech and vice versa.
