The University of the Western Cape is home to the Telkom/Cisco Centre of Excellence for IP and Internet Computing. Both Computer Science and Physics participate in the Centre.

We have two research groups within the Centre. These are the Broadband Applications and Networks Group (BANG!), and the South African Sign Language (SASL) group.

We are sponsored by Telkom Pty Ltd. and Cisco as well as the Department of Trade and Industry and National Research Foundation through THRIP.
